Biography
Mike lives in New York City where he works as an associate scenic and costume designer.
Select Broadway associate/assistant credits include: Hell's Kitchen with scenic designer Robert Brill;
Grey House with scenic designer Scott Pask; Good Night Oscar with scenic designer Rachel Hauck; Caroline or Change with costume designer Fly Davis; The Height of the Storm with scenic designer Anthony Ward; Hangmen with scenic designer Anna Fleischle; Sunset Boulevard with costume designer Tracy Christensen; among others. Beyond Broadway, Mike has worked on the West End, Off-Broadway, National Tours, and dozens of LORT productions.
From 2013 to 2021, Mike worked regularly with scenic designer Jim Youmans as associate designer for theatrical, news television, and corporate event projects. Together they designed scenery for Off-Broadway, many LORT productions, dozens of corporate events, and NBC's 2016 Presidential Debate and Town Hall events.
Mike worked at the Santa Fe Opera in 2013 & 2014 as the costume design assistant for The Impressario and La Rossignol, designed by Fabio Toblini; La Donna de Lago, designed by Kevin Knight; and La Traviata directed and designed by Laurant Pelly .
In 2011 he assisted Francis O'Connor on the scenic design for the world premier of Silent Night at the Minnesota Opera, which won the 2012 Pulitzer Prize for Music. Prior work with Mr. O'Connor in London includes: A Midsummer Night's Dream and Il Turco in Italia (Garsington Opera), Louisa Miller and Maria de Rohan (Buxton Festival), Loyalty (Hampstead Theatre).
A native of Wisconsin, Mike received a Masters of Fine Arts degree in Scenic and Costume Design at Southern Methodist University. His credits there include: The Miser (scenic), Living Out (scenic and costume), In Arabia We'd All be Kings (costume), and Our Town (scenic).
